History

In 1983, Caledon Computer Systems Inc. was established as a hardware supplier and software developer during the incubation years of the information technology industry. In the early 1990’s, the potentially widespread adoption of the internet presented a intriguing opportunity for the merchant industry regarding electronic payment processing. The Caledon Card Services division was officially born in 1992 when we successfully passed the first credit card transaction over internet protocol in Canada. Following the tremendous adoption and expansion of the internet for business purposes, it became clear that the future of Caledon would reside in the payment processing industry.

Today, Caledon Card Services provides merchant accounts and gateway payment processing for over 50,000 merchants in North America. Specializing in eCommerce and custom integrated solutions, we process more than 35 million transactions worth in excess of $3 billion and counting each year. With clients ranging from small non-profit associations to large North American airlines, Caledon has complete ‘out-of-the-box’ solutions or can custom tailor our applications to suit even the most intricate requirements.

Through our own as well as our customer’s success, we have grown and obtained an invaluable amount of experience and knowledge over the last couple of decades. However, we remain humble while proud of the fact that Caledon’s competitive advantage remains the same as it was on day one. Unlike the majority of our bank owned competitors, Caledon remains completely privately held, ensuring our clients receive the high value personal service they so deserve and have come to expect. Because of our unique private situation, we also remain ‘bank neutral’ as we have relationships with all the major financial institutions and can deposit to your bank account no matter who you do your business banking with.

After shopping around, you will easily see why the majority of our new business comes from current clients and referrals. Please contact us to discuss your unique business requirements.
